It`s not really fair to say that Apple sucks, even if their products do.

Think about it. Here`s a company that manufactures a cheap, Chinese piece of crap, overprices the living daylights out of it, and gains a following so hardcore that iPhone users put a ringtone of a zipper unzipping just so they can drop to their knees every time their phone rings. That`s not sucking, that`s amazing. Mind control at its best.

If I could do that to people, I would in a heartbeat. A fool and his money are soon parted.

No debate... Apple sucks.

Everything is proprietary and even the off-the-shelf parts cost 10 times more than the exact same hardware for PCs.

Couple that with the fact that Apple charges over $300 for "Microsoft Word for Apple" but you can buy it directly from Microsoft for $179 and even the most hardcore Apple Fanatic has to admit they are being taken for an unnecessarily expensive ride.

Top it off with the slave labor use to build the things all to save an estimated 5% in costs over building it locally and the only conclusion you can draw it that Apple owners are greedy, morally corrupt posers who should be shot on sight.

But that`s just my opinion.

I actually think MS probably used an actor that looked (from behind, at least) like Steve Jobs on purpose; I just don`t think they did it to be malicious.

Jobs is so iconic that anyone who looks remotely like him is an instant visual cue for Apple. The ad definitely had a couple of hints in there to show that it isn`t Jobs, but by that point, everyone is already thinking `Apple` - damage done.

That`s my two cents at least. I know you all have just been DYING to hear it.

Not taking any sides here--just want to say that the moment the video started and I saw that painfully thin head with the thin brown hair I *immediately* thought of Steve Jobs` last days. I get that the date is wrong and that one of the employees refers to the man as "T"--presumably Tim Cook. But the back of that head just SCREAMS Steve Jobs, which is probably why Microsoft did the smart thing and pulled the videos.

However, HA did say that he thought i was over thinking it.... and I then said `Yeah, probably`, cause I thought he was probably right. Which bit of that conversation between him and I did you think needed any more input then me saying to him `i think you missed something` and him replying` no i think you did` and me saying `yeah, you`re probably right`?

"1. It specifically says "Cupertino Early 2013". Jobs died in 2011.

2. It is showing a pitch for the new phone that happened well after Jobs`s death.

3. It shows an initial pitch, not a process. So how do you see it showing him withering away?

4. My guess is, even if the one guy is supposed to be jobs, the other guy is supposed to be Ive based on the build, hair and tshirt.

Did ALL that bit go over your head? Pity if it did."

yeah... it is really obvious huh... which is probably why, when I looked this up after HA`s posts it seems that no one at all came to the same conclusion, that the withered guy`s head does look a lot like jobs... whether intended or not.

only they did.. a lot.

Not seeing the controversy. HolyGod`s post covers why it`s not supposed to be Jobs so, where is the controversy?

I mean, I could be wrong; in which case, that`s a huge d1ck move, Microsoft. I`m just having a hard time imagining any professional willing to risk that much controversy for a laugh - but alas, stranger things have happened.

"you really don`t think it distasteful to show steve jobs withering away from cancer? Or did that bit go over your head?"

If that is what they were going for - which I doubt entirely - then it was not a very good attempt I`m afraid. Clearly it was supposed to look like Jobs, but he was always skinny. I do not interpret this portrayal to be a mocking of his death due to cancer, as there are no indications that it is so.

If it was an attempt to make light of Jobs` death, then yes, it is distasteful; that interpretation though, doesn`t seem to pass the "common sense test." That is, it is hard to imagine anyone lacking the common sense necessary to know that such an attack would not be well received.

Perhaps you are overthinking it?

HumanAction, whilst it`s gotta be fake that this was an official MS ad pitch, you really don`t think it distasteful to show steve jobs withering away from cancer? Or did that bit go over your head? Pity if it did, that was the funny bit.
