Philippines School Bans Dating To Stop Teen Pregnancies (That'll Work)

Honestly, I don’t really even know why I’m writing about this. The Philippine people aren’t dumb. They have to know the end results of restricting access to sex and birth control. It’s not like other institutions haven’t implemented similar stupid policies over the centuries and come out at a loss. Restrictions on sex don’t stop sex. History and Anatomy 101.

Mic.com: “Sex education is a totally different situation in the Philippines than it is in the United States, largely because of the Roman Catholic Church's wide influence in the country. When the Philippines rolled out a standard sex ed curriculum in schools back in 2010, there was a focus on ‘the religious perspective on premarital sex,’ and it was decided that ‘instruction about contraceptives will not be provided, nor will condoms be distributed in schools.’”

It’s totally bizarre to read things like this. Though to be fair… I don’t think this is only a "Philippine issue" the way the Mic publication frames it. Let's be honest, the headline could cover any state in free world, too.

Either way this is a moment to facepalm.

MelCervini that has nothing to do with teenage sex, The fact is in the U.S. the teen pregnant rate is down from 2007 rates of about 38.4% that's a record low for teens. and its attributed to Sexting they are to busy sending each other nude pics to go out for a hook up. Don't know if its a good thing or a sad commentary on American youth.
