Trump's Modus Operandi: Outrageous Claims, Public Diversions, And No Consequences

Submitted by: normalfreak2 1 month ago News & Politics

It seems like there's a pattern with Trump, an modus operandi if you will: He'll attack (as he has most recently with the "wiretapping" claims), but when he gets called out and he's backed into a corner, he backs down.

Will this strategy eventually catch up with him and backfire?

Here's some thoughts on this subject in general. What do you all think?

1. Trump's words are useless. He has no integrity. There is no reason to acknowledge anything he says.

2. Trump's actions matter. The orders he signs and the people he appoints are the only indicators of his direction as president.

3. Disagreements with the administration's actions come in 2 forms: political and fundamental. Political disagreements are the things we have been arguing about for years; the office has the power to make political changes. Fundamental arguements are basic attacks on logic, truth, civility or basic human decency. These are reprehensible.

4. "Pics or it didn't happen." This applies to Trump and the media. If unconfirmed reports or unknown sources are cited, the arguement is invalid until there is actual corroboration or investigation.

This isn't fake news, this is called "Investigative Journalism" Not sure where they were at under previous administrations but if it wasn't for "Investigative journalism" Mike Flynn would still be Secretary.

As Newsmax CEO and longtime Trump pal Chris Ruddy dished to Politico’s Hadas Gold, Trump recently told Ruddy “he thought [Michael] Smerconish was pretty fair” after appearing on the host’s eponymous Saturday show.

So even Trump thinks Smerconish is fair and he's his favorite CNN Host.

I couldn't help laughing at the latest farce.

"Obama was tapping my phone!" was, it seems, entirely accurate except for the "Obama" and "tapping my phone" bit. The "was" was spot on, though.

5cats How is this a "shitpost"  It's called "Investigative Journalism".   There's a pattern with Trump.  In fact can you argue anything in the article?  The evidence supports the conclusion that he follows Roy Cohen's strategy, attack attack attack and deflect/change the subject when anything bad is being said about you.

Even Trump calls Smerconish a fair guy but of course people like 5cats just ignore that part and just stick to Roy Cohen strategy of attack.

squidbush What hypocrites?  Listen to the argument and the evidence.  Not everyone at CNN is "fake news" or hypocrites.  Smerconish is a fair dude, Trump even said so to his good friend at Newsmax Chris Ruddy http://www.phillymag.com/news/2017/02/22/trump-cnn-michael-smerconish/

So if even Trump calls him fair is he still "fake news"?

squidbush Fake news makers complaining about fake news...
The biggest liars of them all complaining that other people are telling lies...
It's just so... typical! And this is HOW we got Trump in the first place, and they still haven't figured this out yet?

5cats Trump apologists have fallen into the bad habit of declaring any news that's critical of Trump as being fake news. Although fake news does exist on fake news sites, it's becoming boring listening to the same old formula being repeated over and over again.

5cats The fact that you're gloating about this shows how desperately you're clutching at straws to defend him.

DrCribbens Huh? What? How twisted is that "logic"?

Clutching at what 'straws' there is NOTHING to defend! There was NO BAD NEWS HERE at all.

It's just ANOTHER in a long list of MSM lies, fake news and false attacks. Keep crying 'wolf' liberals, that's how Trump got elected in the first place :-)
