How Come Yesterday's Report Of A Fresno Man Murdering 4 People Didn't Cause Any Uproar?

Submitted by: fancylad 6 days ago News & Politics

Kori Ali Muhammad, a Fresno, California local, went on a shooting rampage yesterday, killing four men before surrendering to local police. The Washington Times confirms that the 39-year-old Muhammad yelled "Allahu Akbar" as the police approached him to make the arrest.

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said the shooting spree was "based solely on race" and not a terrorist attack, although there have been reports of his social media posts spoke about racial conflict and black nationalism

Why make muslims a target for hate? Trump already did that.

It's because it was a black man, and the media doesn't want to make them look bad.  They would go out of their way and have protests if it were the other way around.

This was weirdly quiet. The first I heard of it was my sister (who lives there) posting that she and her family where out of town and ok on facebook. Then I had to google Fresno to find out what she was talking about.

bliznik Well, it did on mine for an afternoon, and then all mention of it died. I feel like 6 months ago, this would've been on a headlining loop for at least 48 hours.

fancylad Actually, yeah, I saw much of the same thing.

I feel like "being scared of Muslims" doesn't sell advertisements as well as it used to. Now it's "being scared of North Korea," "being scared of Syria's 'chemical weapons'," or "being scared of Trump's agenda."

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely concerned about these other things, and they need to be responded to in a mature, proportional manner, but I'm not overtly frightened of them.

bliznik I'm more afraid of Trump than North Korea. Living in West Virginia keeps me from fearing muslims, they are more afraid of white folks here.

We've been pointing it out for 12+ years now: if it doesn't 'fit the meme' then it is not news!
If it does fit? even if it's fake? That is news!
You just started wondering why? lolz!

Example: 2 men kidnap a 13 year-old boy. They torture, beat and rape him in a hotel room for 3 days then leave him to die (dehydration iirc) = not news!
A Christian group objects to this story being ignored? Is news! Those hate-filled homophobes! How dare they disagree...

I saw it. This is America. Are we supposed to be shocked now? Twenty kindergarten children gunned down and we doubled down on stupid. Things aren't going to change after this either.

rumham No, not everything is 'us vs. them'.

But even you have to admit that the gun debate is primarily left vs. right. (There's some overlap, but not a lot.)

megrendel Gun free zones are the toothless laws left over after the NRA writes its checks.

megrendel Grendel, you know that no one would dare shoot someone in a gun-free zone! They'd be in big trouble!!
If we just made ALL of North America a big gun-free zone? Gun crime would cease to exist. It's a fact! #realnews

If a person puts on a tshirt that says "GO ISIS", does that automatically make it a terrorist attack?

I wonder if they took him to burger king like Dylan Roof.

He was only targeting whites.  It doesn't make the news unless you target blacks or arabs

Two reasons:
1) It's Kalifornia, the have such tight gun control laws that this never happens.
2) It doesn't fit the narrative.  How can they control out thinking if they just reported the facts?

"Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said the shooting spree was "based solely on race" and not a terrorist attack,"

It's still a terrorist attack. He was killing based solely on race and you don't think that won't instill terror? Dumbass.

squidbush Is Murder a Terror attack now?  Think about rights when you consider someone a terrorist and the means of becoming a "terrorist'  I believe under the Patriot Act anyone labeled a Terrorist can lose their rights immediately.

@ When a white kid shot up a mosque in Quebec the media and politicians were tripping over themselves to get to a mic and call it terrorism. Keep coming up with excuses though. Your avatar is very apt in this case.

notoriousbac Are you serious?  I mean honestly?  It was reported for 2 days that it was Islamic terror, then we heard nothing.  Trump didn't even address the attack.  Your alternative realty doesn't exist.

normalfreak2 It's very easy to read the Patriot Act and come away with the thought that it labels EVERYONE as a potential terrorist. It was written that way.
And no. just a murder is not a terrorist attack. multiple murders randomly targeting people of a specific group (race, religion, gender, whatever) with the implied threat of others of your group (race, religion.. whatever) doing the same in the future is terrorism. it instills terror, therefore..

squidbush Murder is also a crime that we have laws for.  I'm not for throwing away the Constitution because someone can be called a "terrorist".  That's how Gulag's start.

scheckydamon pretty much.  I don't think people realize that shit like this happens almost every day somewhere.  It's not a story unless it's a white cop that did something supposedly wrong though.
